Welcome Reception

Welcome Reception is planned in the evening on Monday (Sept. 9) in the Nagahama Royal Hotel. All participants are invited to the Reception free of charge. This is a great time to enjoy refreshments, meet with old colleagues, make new connections and share information.

All participants can enjoy a boat cruise on the Lake Biwa, free of charge, in the afternoon on Thursday (Sept. 12). The Lake Biwa is Japan's largest lake, having a total area of approximately 670 km² and a circumference of approximately 235 km. It is also one of the oldest lakes in the world, calculated at over four million years old. Islands on the lake and mountains surrounding it provide beautiful scenery. During the cruise we plan to stop at a small island ?Chikubu Island (or Chikubujima)?, which attracts many worshippers visiting a shrine and a temple in the island..

IMPORTANT: Please understand that the maximum capacity of the boat is 170 persons. We estimate that the capacity is enough for the conference participants, but in case of the unpredictable overflow we are obliged to ask the overflowns to join a different tour. Please kindly understand the matter. In order to reserve a cruise seat, you are kindly requested to inform us whether you can participate the excursion or not at the online registration.
